Rajab — A Sacred Month

What is firmly established about Rajab, how it connects with the Night Journey, and how to avoid turning popular customs into fixed Sunnah.

One of the four sacred months

The Prophet ﷺ named Rajab of Muḍar as one of the four sacred months, alongside Muharram, Dhul-Qaʿdah and Dhul-Hijjah.

What to do in Rajab

Use the month as a reason to renew tawbah, protect the five prayers, read Qur’an, make dhikr, give charity and avoid wrongdoing. These are good deeds throughout the year; this page does not invent a special Rajab-only checklist.

Isrāʾ & Miʿrāj

The Night Journey and Ascension are firmly established in Qur’an and authentic hadith. The journey is especially important to Salah because the five daily prayers were prescribed during the Ascension.

Was it definitely 27 Rajab? The exact Hijri date is not established by an authentic report. The 27th of Rajab is a widespread traditional association and should not be stated as a confirmed date.

Charity in Rajab

Charity is always a virtuous deed, but this site does not claim a unique Rajab-specific reward for charity without reliable evidence. Give for Allah’s sake without attaching an invented promise to the month.
